Rejuvenate and detoxify your skin with my favourite body and facial scrubs. With an assemblage of natural and organic brands, you'll smell like coconut, coffee, strawberry or rose. I choose all the above, Which will you choose?

To allow your skin to effectively utilise and absorb facial and body oils, serums or creams, we need the base of our skin to be prepped for the giving. One of the ways to achieve this is through exfoliation and it is consequential step in your skincare regime. By habitually exfoliating (1-3 times a week), we are scrubbing away the outermost layer of our skin to stimulate the renewal of new skin. It essentially unplugs our pores from the daily build-up of dead, dull and dry skin cells, grime and excess sebum to allow smooth and refined skin to surface. As well as deeply cleansing our skin, manual exfoliation helps to perk up our complexion, improve our skin tone and texture, prevent breakouts and erase fine lines, all the while leaving your skin soft and supple.  Remember not to over exfoliate. It can damage and irritate the surface layer of the skin, exacerbating sensitivity, redness and acne. With all things, moderation is prevalent. Understand your skin and what it needs. After ever facial or body exfoliation, nurture your skin with creams, balms, or oils to hydrate and seal in the moisture. I have three favourite body scrubs and three favourite facial scrubs that embraces an assortment of skin types. Let's begin shall we?

Flight Skincare - Soft, White Gentle Face Polish (normal, dry skin)

Certified organic and wildly harvested, this facial scrub polishes the skin with a texture that applies enough pressure to clean, de-congest, hydrate and calm. With the mingle of crushed walnut shells, jojoba beads, certified organic macadamia nut oil (hydrates and moisturisers) and passionflower (sooth and calm), this polish awakens the skin, unveiling soft and discernible cleansed skin that looks fresh and bright. It's my most emptied jar. What makes it so proficient is the presence of crushed walnut shells whisked with jojoba beads. If you glide this scrub gently across your face, you'll find that they deliver the precise exfoliation, that isn't too gentle and neither to harsh. With saying that, this exfoliant is suitable for normal to dry skin, but might be slightly coarse for sensitive or acne prone skin. Nilly + Booth Rose Chamomile (see below) poses well for sensitive/acne prone skin, as it exfoliates with a mere gentle touch, without aggravating or scraping at the skin.

ingredients: Aqua, Cetearyl Olivate Sorbitan Olivate (derived from Olives), Kaolin (French White Clay), Rosa damascene (Rose) Water, Vegetable Glycerine,* Macadamia integrifolia (Macadamia) Oil, * Camellia oleifera (Camellia) Oil, Simmonsis Chinensis (Jojoba beads), Juglans regia (Ground Walnut),* Butyrospermumparkii (Shea Nut Butter), Simmonsis chinensis (Jojoba) Oil ,* Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Passiflora incarnate (Passionflower) Extract,* (Honey), Aloe barbadensis (Aloe vera)Leaf Juice,  Parfum (Vanilla & Almond), Sorbitol,* Persea Americana (Avocado) Oil, Tocopherols (Vitamin E),* Sclerocarya birrea (Marula) Oil, Xanthan Gum,**Carrageenan Extract, Agonis fragrans (Fragonia) Oil,  Citris aurantifolia (Lime) Oil

Nilly + Booth - Rose, Chamomile Organic Face Scrub (All skin types)

A select blend of healing and moisturising ingredients, this scrub makes for a very gentle cleanser and exfoliant. Nilly+Booth deliver an ample of soothing and anti-oxidant rich ingredients, served with ingredients that have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agents. Raw honey, rolled oats, rose petals, rosehip oil and chamomile flowers, to name a few, work collectively to harmonious with sensitive and acne prone skin (also suitable for all skin types). With a very gentle pressure, the rolled oats and chamomile flowers will slough away dead skin cells and the days accumulated dirt, sweat and pollutants, revealing clarified skin.  Although the texture is gentle, it'll still bare refreshed and smooth skin, alongside calming and hydrating irritated skin. Keep in mind, If we fail to unclog our pores from debris or toxins, we can worsen acne and breakouts so weekly exfoliation helps to create an environment for your skin to heal. It is said to use this scrub 2-3 times a week, but with sensitive and acne prone skin, start with 1-2 times a week, become attuned to your skins reaction and adjust accordingly. Even with a gentle exfoliant, for all skin types, primarily sensitive/acne prone, you want to use a light hand, gliding across your skin with a gentle pressure, so not to aggravate the skin.

The scent of rose and chamomile is predominate, without being overwhelming. I find it quite aromatherapeutic and inhaling the aroma tends to calm my spirits with an uplifted note. Start you mornings calm, end your nights soothed I say. It must be appreciatively noted that Nilly + Booth use recycled, recyclable or reusable packaging. Respect.

ingredients:  *Raw Honey, *Rolled Oats, *Glycerine (Vegetable), *Rose Petals, *Chamomile Flowers, *Rosehip Seed Oil, *Camellia Tea Oil, *Calendula Petals, *Green Tea Leaf, *Orange Peel, Licorice Root, Natural Vitamin E Oil, Rose Geranium Essential Oil

Leahlani Skincare-Honey Love Microdermabrasion 3-in-1 Cleanser, Mask & Exfoliater

A soft and dewy complexion? Uh yes please. Aloha from Hawaii. I have become quite a fan of Leah's skincare line, which it's entirety is a sensory treat, capturing the delightful aroma of Hawaii. Whichever way you choose to use this all encompassing honey jar, it'll effortlessly soothe and balance, with the purpose of quenching dehydrated skin, unveiling a smooth finish, that's taut but never dry. This cleanser, mask and exfoliator offers a flurry of nutritious ingredients, for maximum skin absorption.  With such a few ingredients, including organic raw honey, vitamins, essential oils and organic flowers, this jar sure packs a punch. I've been finding raw honey in quite a few of my cleansers and feel my skin is better for it. Those buzzing Hawaiian Island bees will sure transform your skin with their raw and organic honey. It is full of antioxidants and antibacterial properties which again helps in the management of oily and acne prone skin.

Used as a cleaners and mask, it gently + deeply nourishes and replenishes the skin. Used as an exfoliator, well, with one use your skin will glow. The corundum microdermabrasion crystals that settles at the bottom of the jar, are very fine. but lordy do they exfoliate. Now the top layer of this jar is for cleansing and masking. To activate the crystals to exfoliate, you need to stir up the jar, which means you choose the precise exfoliating pressure. These crystals, as fine as they are, do have a coarse texture that's too rough to use simply alone. It needs to be combined with the top layer, to not scrape at the skin. Used in this way, no exfoliant will dislodges daily toxins as effectively as these crystals. Upon rising, my skin felt the way it does after masking, renewed and vibrant, shedding any dull shadow. Microdermabrasion indeed, out with the old, in with the new. If you do have sensitive/acne prone skin, I would recommend to mix more of the top layer with a small amount of the crystals and exfoliate with a very light hand, gliding gently across. If you have more crystals in your mixture, it might be abrasive against the skin, so always patch test before use. With over 800 positive reviews, with each varying in skin type, the crystals offered an assortment of benefits, including pore refinement, brighter skin and evened out complexion.

ingredients:  organic raw honey, organic hibiscus flower, organic lavender, organic chamomile, vitamin C, organic orange, lavender essential oil, chamomile essential oil, corundum microdermabrasion crystals, LOVE
Price: $34 (USD) or $46.49 (AUD)

Yard Skincare - Soft, White Gentle Face Polish (all skin types)

Now I don't drink coffee, but I sure enjoy the smell of coffee brewing in the morning. Tangle that scent with a hint of coconut and it's one hell of sensory experience. Yard Skincare’s new coffee-coconut scrub is delicious. No, please don't taste it, but smother it all over your body, polish away any dry, dead skin cells and reboot your skin to luminosity. Yard brings together ground arabica coffee beans, rapadura sugar, epsom saltwith skin conditioning oils that will sink into your skin without leaving behind any oily residue. Once the scrub is washed away and skin dried, your left with complete and utter softness. This mixture spreads evenly and well over the body to 'detox the skin, boost collagen and enhance skins elasticity.' The fine granules combined with coconut flakes are not too abrasive, but rough enough to feel the skin is appropriately cleansed, shedding the old and bringing forth the new. Again, with sensitive/acne prone skin, use a light pressure when exfoliating. Directions are to let the scrub sink in for 2-5 minutes before rinsing away. Depending on your skin type, it is recommended to exfoliate the body 1-2 times a week.  Warning: prepare to get down and dirty, it will get messy in the shower.

ingredients: arabica coffee, *rapadura sugar, epsom salts, *coconut oil, *sesame oil, *jojoba oil, *flax/linseed (ground), *coconut flakes, vanilla powder, *argan oil, *essential & *fragrance oils

Moody Sisters -  Coffee Body Polish (normal to dry)

Handmade body polish for the butt and thighs, that's said to 'hydrate and reduce the appearance of cellulite.' Now I can say that I have found this exfoliant to have firmed the surface of my skin, around my thighs and buttocks, but alas, the cellulite is still there and unwavering, although somewhat improved. The texture of this scrub is coarse but it doesn't scratch or strip the skin, rather seals in the moisture with the balance of  moisturising butters and oils. Believe me, your butt will have never have felt so darn soft. It's like a drape of silk covering your behind. You can use it all over the body, but I found it doesn't spread well over the skin so I primarily use it on the butt and thighs. The scent is warm and fresh, a lovingly mix of sugar, coffee and citrus. Warning: prepare to get down and dirty, it will get messy and slippery in the shower. Moody Sisters are currently revamping their body line, so the Coffee Polish is currently unavailable but they do stock other body scrubs, so check them out.

ingredients: demerara sugar, coffee infused sunflower oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, coffee grounds, essential oils (vanilla, grapefruit, orange and rosemary extract)

OH DEER Sugar -  (OH) Exfoliator (all skin types)

I don't usually gravitate towards anything pink. But, I have allowed myself to be covertly girly in the shower and boast about this hot pink delight- it smells like sweet, sweet candy, with a whiff of coconut that lingers on the skin. Using sugar crystals as the texture, this handmade exfoliant gives a gentle touch, removing dead skin cells effectively. A simple meld of natural and vegan ingredients, high in Vitamin C and antioxidants, this pretty exfoliator encourages silken skin that smells good. Oh Deer Sugar is a quirky and natural/vegan alternative to Lush, stocking a myriad of colourful varieties of bath bombs, carnival bubble bars, bubble bar macarons, body butters, scrubs and face masks. Do keep in mind, this scrub contains artificial colours that are body approved and artificial flavours that are natural. Warning: it will get messy, like pink confetti splattered about. It also warns, their products may contain traces of nuts.

Hello Anusha! Thanks for commenting babe. Hmm have you tried mixing a ting bit of a crystals with more of the cleaner? It's best to mix them together and use more of the cleanser with a little of the crystals. A little goes a long way at effective scrubbing. Have you tried that?
